Description
Japanese stamps, issued for National Letter-Writing Day in 2012. This image is from the poetry anthology, Hyakunin Isshu, of work from the 10th-13th centuries. The anthology showcased the work of one hundred poets, each contributing one poem. It was compiled by Fujiwara no Teika while he lived in the Ogura district of Kyoto. Fujiwara no Teika produced the calligraphy sheets to decorate the screens of a family member’s house. The card game uta-garuta uses a deck of these cards.

I create remarkable jewelry from antique and vintage architectural and historical elements, including musical instruments, vintage pens, clock-parts and postage stamps. They’re framed in classic jewelry settings, to highlight their hidden beauty. The result is an adventurous synthesis of functional form and glamour.
