Viewed in galleries and museums across the nation, Erin Hanson’s artwork will now also be seen by thousands of art enthusiasts as the 2015 Indian Wells Arts Festival commemorative poster artist. Selected for her unique ability to transform landscapes into abstract mosaics of color and texture, Erin’s oil painting and Festival poster image captures the artist’s appreciation for the natural beauty found in Indian Wells, CA.
“The completed painting, which I titled "Indian Wells in Bloom," is my impression of all the times I have seen the desert in full bloom, with small green outshoots of new growth appearing on all the plant life,” says Erin, and furthers, “I love it when the rocky desert ground gets dusted in light green, like a fairy sprinkled emerald dust all over the landscape.” Erin’s oil paintings are created wet-on-wet, alla prima, allowing the viewer to experience the texture of every brush stroke. A colorful underpainting gives a unique glowing effect to her paintings. “I have greatly admired the artwork chosen for the poster for many years, and I am so happy that one of my pieces of art will go down in the annals of the Indian Wells Arts Festival.”
“I love the colors and bold paint stokes; the flowers, the sky, and the mountain background which is the actual horizon seen from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden,” says Indian Wells Arts Festival producer Dianne Funk in admiration of the painting. “We’ve found that festival attendees like to take home a commemorative print that reflects the desert; “Indian Wells in Bloom” fits well into the fresh new look inspired by desert landscapes.”
Festival attendees and art enthusiasts will be treated to a variety of art and installations showcased at the respected event, with thousands of one-of-a-kind pieces to choose from ranging from the highly collectable to the affordable.
