Hilltop Shetland Fingering 200 or 400 YD Skein -Hand Dyed Butternut

80% Virginia Grown Shetland Wool, 10% Merino Wool, 10% Nylon 200 yard skein, approx 1.6 oz 400 yard skein, approx 3.5 oz Hand Dyed a over natural fawn a tonal rustic orange (the color of the Butternut Squash!) and is dyed on the farm where the wool is grown. Yarn is lofty smooth, silky soft, yet strong fingering weight yarn that is a beautiful example of what Shetland yarn can be. A wonderful choice for not only socks, but lace shawls and Fair Isle or stranded knitting. (See the Fair Isle Thistle Cape pattern for an example of this yarn in stranded knitting.) This yarn was 5 years in the making, experimenting with mills, growing our flock to include several of the natural colors that Shetland is known for. Shetland wool developed through natural selection – is a combination of a cashmere like undercoating with soft-strong guard hair.
