Hesperaloe parviflora 'Red Yucca' is an evergreen perennial succulent that resembles a yucca plant. It features long, blue-green, sword-like leaves that grow up to 2-3 ft (60-90 cm) in length. Unlike yucca plants, these leaves are spineless and have fibrous threads along their edges. In colder weather and dry conditions, the foliage can take on purple or reddish-bronze hues. From late spring to midsummer, slender stalks up to 5 ft (150 cm) tall display bell-shaped, coral red to pink flowers that attract hummingbirds. Highly resilient, this plant can withstand extreme heat and drought, as well as cold temperatures in USDA Zone 6. Once established, it requires minimal care and watering.
