Yes, this photograph was really taken in Italy. (People often ask me if this is Ireland or England, for example). But it really is Italy. Southern Italy in early November, no less. I was staying in the atmospheric town of Alberobello, in the region of Puglia. One day, I rode outside of town on a bicycle. While enjoying myself, seeing an amazing rural landscape not far from where I started in the middle of town, I saw this road. Where does it lead? I don't know. I didn't continue down this side road. But, now, I kind of wish I had done that.

I've traveled to Europe many, many times for more than 15 years to photograph and to enjoy life there - Italy, Germany, France, England, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, and others. I've also lived in Germany. Wandering narrow European streets, for example, I attempt to capture a unique perspective and document the beauty in things that most people walk by and don't really notice. Through my images, I endeavor to transport the viewer to the locale being depicted. Or to bring back enjoyable memories for the viewer of being at the location themselves.
