This deep bowl is food-safe. It is often called a flower bowl because of the scalloped edges. It’s made of sheet glass, frit (small pieces of glass), and glass powders. This bowl makes a perfect snack bowl or candy dish. The bowl contains turquoise blue and various shades of green. When turquoise and green touch when fusing, the makeup of the glass causes a reaction thus, making a brownish color. The frit colors (spots) are black, spring green, and olive green. It has been handmade by me. The piece is fired in my kiln to a smooth finish. To finish the process in the kiln, the glass is cooled very slowly—annealing phase. This process makes the glass stronger. The next process is to slump the disc into a mold. This bowl is 6mm thick. NOTE: We do not recommend washing this piece in the dishwasher—due to cold/heat variations of the dishwasher. Please hand wash.

My sister, Sue Froebel, and I have been fusing for about 10 years. However, we don't fuse full time. We usually do about 4 Art Shows a year. We are learning new fusing techniques all of the time. We are both a BOI's--born on the island-Galveston.
