Gourd Pin/Brooch

My imaginary gourd pins are made from hard-shell gourd remnants. I reuse everything if at all possible, with my gourd art. First thing is to cut a rough shape with my mini jigsaw and then finish with different sanding and carving bits. I use both a Dremel with a flexible shaft and a Micro Pro Master Carver for this task. The basic design is sketched on and carved. After which all color is added. Detail is achieved by burning and carving lines and patterns, followed by gold leafing. The finished pins are clear coated front and back. Embellishments are added with beads that are glued on and then glazed. Antennae from wire and legs from head pins complete the piece. All my work is signed and dated including my pins.
