This original design was applied to the goose egg shell using a wax resist method (batik) then cut out of the shell, coated with epoxy for durability and hung from a surgical steel ear wire. These earrings are very lightweight.

There is an ancient Ukrainian art called Pysanky Writing. It is done on egg shells and it is the coolest thing in the entire world. I started doing this art in 1980. The thing is, while the eggs are absolutely gorgeous sitting on a stand, they are still an egg and very fragile. Over the years I have tried to do different things with the eggs hoping to find something that would sell well enough to enable me to keep doing what I love. The most fun turned out to be jewelry. And, I can coat the pieces with ecopoxy so they are not fragile. I've been making jewelry out of egg shells for about 12 years and am having more fun than anybody I know. I truly love what I do!!
