Description
Spalding was the first company to make an american football and the first company to file a patent on the football. The patent on the left is this first patent - the classic melon shape. The middle patent is for stitching the new shape due to the change in rules for forward passing. The patent on the right is for the inside bladder which had its own opening for inflating the ball without having to undo the lacing.
