“This scene took my breath away in Algonquin. The sun was setting, and the field start to glow. It felt like a finale of gorgeous pops of colors wherever I looked. I took many reference photos so that I could combine the best elements of the scene into a studio painting. While I was painting, I felt like a gardener carefully choosing the placement of wild foliage. ”

Formerly a geologist, I transitioned to becoming a full-time artist and tapped into my enthusiasm for earth sciences as it relates to visual arts. I currently reside in Toronto and my body of work reflects Ontario’s diverse beauty, including scenes from Algonquin Park, the Great Lakes and Toronto’s urban parks.
When I am outdoors, I delight in discovering new visual details while deeply observing a scene. I travel Ontario to find unique and authentic compositions that capture the natural and complex atmosphere of the landscape. Paintings are created in the studio utilizing plein-air studies and photos from my travels as reference material. Representational oil paintings focus on subtle color transitions and expressive brushwork to translate the energy I feel outdoors onto the canvas.
