Fall Birches

PEN & INK (ORIGINAL 25 1/4" X 15 1/2") PROFESSIONALLY FRAMED & MATTED UNDER GLASS (BLACK WOOD FRAME). Fall gives a great blast of colour for all species of trees & Birch trees are no exception. This piece is a small section of my reference photo which I singled out to create this. My next piece will show the whole cluster of birch trees & fall coloured leaves that we are all familiar with. I used a drawing technique to show the shapes of the leaf clusters with small hints of leaf shapes throughout. I used different colours of acrylic inks to represent the colours of the leaf clusters as the sun filters through the leaf clusters. The bright yellow indicates the sun hitting the leaves in different areas & the colours representing the mid & dark tones represent the deeper shadowed areas in the leaf clusters. The Birch trees were drawn with Pen & Ink & the shadows with Ink Intense Pencils.
