Description

E421. Riveted Lithograph Tin & Enamel Rectangle Earrings. I made these earrings by cutting rectangles out of a vintage lithograph tea tin & riveting them together, as well as copper rectangles that I enameled with black oil & clear enamel. Lithography is a printing method from the 1790s. During the early & mid-20thcentury, lithography was used to produce brightly colored tin that was used in toys, TV trays, lunch boxes, candy containers, doll houses & other items. The earrings measure 1” by 0.5”. The earring wires are non-allergenic surgical steel.

Meet your seller

Pauline's Jewelry Box

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
