Description
E393. Textured Copper Black & Clear Enamel Disc Earrings. I made these earrings by texturing a piece of copper with wire I'd crocheted, & then enameling them first with black oil enamel that I scraped off & then with clear enamel. The earrings hang down 3/4” from the base of the earring wire, which is non-allergenic niobium.

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
