Animal Facts:
Flightless member of pigeon found only to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. A plumped bird covered in soft, grey feather, with a plumed white as its tail. It had a small wings that were too weak to ever lift off the ground. Fully grown dodos weighted about 23kg. Standing 3ft tall. By 1681 Dodo had been driven to extinction by humans.
The dodo appears in the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It is often viewed as a symbol of extinction and obsolescence.
