"Disaster Tourism" was created during the first month of the COVID-19 quarantines of 2020. It is an acrylic painting on recycled canvas.
It is a personal piece that depicts the conflicts I was dealing with at the time. It reflects a sense of finding sanctuary within my own world, despite the great desire to adventure and meet new people. I was six months separated from an abusive relationship at the time. Quarantine took away the freedoms I had just regained. It forced me, like most of us at the time, to find peace in being alone.

Acrylic painter.
Currently teaching art to K-8th students in Lakeland, I am a visual artist working mostly with acrylic paints.
I utilize found objects, photography, drawing, painting, and recycled materials to execute my work. The inspiration is life experience, the motivation is the people I come into contact with.
I find that using recycled canvas and "found" surfaces are an essential technique to convey humanity in my work. Objects can hold the worst memories, or nostalgia. A painting can make you reminisce, or recoil.
I aspire to discuss emotions with a visual assistance, when words fail to do the job.
