Our handturned wood darning eggs are made by us in our workshop. They are made from domestic and exotic hardwood and are used for darning socks, weaving in ends, and grafting toes on your hand knit socks.
These darning eggs have been sealed with a linseed oil finish. The colors are the natural color of the wood. We don't use stains, preferring to show the natural color, grain and character of the wood.
Our darning eggs are an average length of 5 1/2" and range in diameters from 1 1/2" to 2" (this is the measurement across the top of the widest part). The photos are representative of what we have currently in stock. Each item is individually hand turned and slightly unique. We will fill your order by random selection from current stock. If you have a special request please include in your order comments or email directly to knittingnotions@gmail.com.
