D688 3 drawer 'Odd Stacked' 3DQC

Who said that all boxes had to be plain, old rectangles? This is one of my whimsical 'oddly stacked' Special with 18 drawers. Why? Just because they are fun and because I can. The drawer elements are joined together using a 'blind mortise and loose tenon' joint and have a 1/42" veneer pad between the elements to provide small shadow line. I just think it looks nicer... The carcass of the box is made from African mahogany and the drawers are faced with a striking mappa burl. The drawer sides are made from poplar. Each drawer has one of my 'friendly' handles made from American black walnut. The bottom of each drawer is lined with tan ultra-suede to protect whatever you choose to keep inside. The bottom of the box has four soft feet to protect your table top from marring. The box is finished with several hand-rubbed coats of clear lacquer and then waxed to bring out the natural color and figure of the woods.
