Acrylic on canvas
The Cotton Club was a New York City night club located in the Harlem then for a short time in the midtown Theater District. Some of the best known jazz musicians performed there during the Prohibition Era. We can snap our fingers to the rhythms while enjoying this painting and imagining the sounds the musicians make.

Jennylynd James is a Renaissance woman: a food scientist, soprano, writer and fine artist in one package. With a Ph.D. in Food Science from McGill University, Jennylynd worked for many years in the food industry in the US, Latin America, Europe and Canada. She was introduced to oil painting, portraiture and sketching in 2009 while running a business in Ireland. Jennylynd uses the vivid colours of her Caribbean heritage and global travel to influence her artwork.

Loose brush strokes in her acrylic paintings to portray the movement and expression of musical characters at live shows.
"I crop the most animated scenes to fill small and large canvases with the illusion of a big, rich sound."
