Description
This is a one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture, handbuilt with coils, glazed, and electric fired. The smooth outside and very textured inside provide quite the contrast. The shiny black glaze emphasizes the coil texture, pooling with a coppery sheen that looks gold in some lighting in the ridges of the coils.
The undulating texture is created by individual coils pressed together, layer after layer, naturally bulging and sagging, giving the piece a sense of fluidity. The organic shape is reminiscent of a fallen leaf or piece of petrified wood.
