Cleistocactus Winteri ssp. Colademononis 'Monkey Tail Cactus'

This Monkey Tail Cactus is also called Cleistocactus colademononis or Hildewintera colademononis: The stems of this plant resemble a monkey's tail, giving it the name. It may also be compared to the Rat Tail Cactus due to its greenish-yellow stems with soft white spines. However, do not be deceived, as these spines are not safe to touch.This cactus typically has three to five stems that branch at the base and grow upright for a few feet before drooping. It produces striking red flowers that are highly ornamental and bloom for a few days before transforming into fruits which have a short lifespan. In addition to thriving in its native environment, the Monkey Tail Cactus also makes an excellent house plant, particularly when grown as a hanging plant due to its distinctive drooping stems.
