Wonderful combination of the richness and warmth of Guatemalan Rosewood with the beauty of old growth figured Hawaiian Koa.
Tuned in an open harmonic sequence in C Major, this drum is arranged in a 4 chord sequence made up of the 3 or 4 notes nearest each corner of the drum. The chord sequence is C Major, F Major, G Major and A minor or (1 4 5 6). This is the dominant chord sequence in songs of the last 50 or 60 years. Thus even the most novice player can sound great and play songs as well as just enjoy playing freeform creating spontaneous delightful melody!

We are a father and son team who build handcrafted melodic drums & musical furniture in a variety of beautiful exotic hardwoods sometimes combining them also with stone & metal. We utilize "open-harmonic" tunings which are designed so that anyone, regardless of skill can enjoy; from the professional musician to the novice music lover. Woods are chosen based on density, elasticity, grain configuration, silica content and appearance. Stone & metals chosen for aesthetic & acoustic properties as well. Work is hand sanded and finishes are hand-rubbed.
