Description
The black capped chickadee is a common backyard visitor but not always easy to get a close look at or to photograph. Friendly and curious, Chickadees enjoy the company of other bird species and are also amiable to humans. But they are also small and quick, seldom pausing for more than a brief moment. Their well known “chick-a-dee-dee-dee” appears to be cheerful in nature but is in fact a warning call. This little bird may seem delicate but is feisty and resilient, able to flourish in harsh climates.
