Carrier

Professionally framed Intaglio Print. Carrier Project Description I concern myself with the environment around me, the lumps, curves and divots. Where have they been? Where do they go? I search through images and written reflection to understand dilemmas, patterns, and strife. Seeking balance. Symbols are collected from current spaces, past places, and memory, forming foggy narratives. Yearning seeped in ink. The viewer is left to piece together clippings from their personal archives, the worn pieces from the backs of their minds, in a quest to bring resolve to their own inquiries. Carrier is a combination of three zinc plates; the use of etching, dry point, aquatint, and mezzo tint are employed. The image depicts a figure carrying a heavy load of ten sticks as seen in Pamela Smith’s Tarot. The figure hovers above a mound of black, surrounded and covered by a tangle of vines, and fragmented pieces. Tendrils crawl across the space. A red pattern of circles lays hazily in the background. A cycle is present and turning, spinning from an old dark place. The carrier feels trapped within the frame of ink and grey.
