I have been a potter for 50 years receiving my initial training at an Ohio liberal arts college. My primary emphasis is on functional stoneware pottery which blends design and function. I have taught pottery at the high school, college, and art institute levels and over the years have given many lectures and demonstrations.
My pottery has been exhibited in several individual and invitational shows as well as many juried exhibitions and festivals in 15 different states.
To prepare for glazing I use wax resist, masking, and addition of oxides to highlight letters. I use a variety of glazing techniques--pouring, dipping, and squirting. The glazes which are lead-free and food safe showcase the beautiful shapes and texture of the vessels.
Each piece is created individually allowing every pot to be unique from the next. My greatest joy as a potter has been to know that over the years many have enjoyed the function and beauty of my pottery.
