This fleece weighs 4.25 pounds with a 4-5 inch staple length. A primitive spinning fleece from one of our wethers. The fleece has 2 types of locks: crimpy and fine and a more traditional Shetland type lock with the very soft bottom topped with a wavy wispy guard hair. This is a beautiful large fleece allows the spinner to experience the best of Shetland wool. Shetland fleeces produce a light lofty yarn with a silky finish. And a little goes a long way. Our fleeces are never coated because these browsing animals have cleaned our pastures up nicely. But they might have some very light vegetable matter. (Coating sheep often causes felting.)
