Description

B287. Vintage Omaha & Council Bluffs Transit Token & Electrical Resistor Bracelet. I made this bracelet with vintage transit tokens, electrical resistors, & a bus charm. The O&CB Railway & Bridge Company was incorporated in 1886 to connect Omaha & Council Bluffs; the 1st cars were drawn by horses. At one time, the O&CB was one of the nation's largest; it was also one of the last streetcars in the U.S., with its last run in 1955. Electrical resistors are used to resist/reduce current flow, divide voltages, or terminate transmission lines, etc. The bracelet measures 8.5” long, but can be worn shorter.

Meet your seller

Pauline's Jewelry Box

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
