Autumn Quiet acrylic on canvas MEET THE ARTIST: Lynn Samuel Hood I am a West Coast artist living on Vancouver Island. My art education has been a few community courses. I find that going to see other artists create gets me fired up and I can’t wait to see what will happen when I put pencil to paper or brush to canvas. I’ve always had a love and connection with trees and Mother Earth, and I find that this propels me to create even more. There’s nothing quite as satisfying in my world than to walk through the woods touching the trees and smelling the air. A close second is wandering the shoreline, before, during, and after a storm. I’ve investigated tidal pools for many a year. My main medium is graphite, but paints, acrylic and water have found their way into my heart as well. Creating gives me a freedom from the daily life as well as negative thoughts. This is especially true for me when I’m creating mandalas with Celtic knotwork and trees.
