I am very inspired by the events in life that are less than ideal. There is this notion (especially on social media) that life must be perfect to be presentable and that you must hide if you don’t meet others expectations. I translate those ideas into metal by using asymmetry. The asymmetrical elements represent the parts of life the may not fit. But still, when you add up all your asymmetrical pieces, you create a beautiful whole. The amethyst is apex amethyst. They have such unique coloring because the purple amethyst tries to grow in with clear calcite and it creates the most beautiful clash of colors. The smaller round stones are faceted iolite. The piece has been hand made out of sterling silver. The silver has been oxidized and given a slight polish. The piece is about 16 inches around.

Emma Steelman started her silversmithing journey in the spring of 2015. She is self taught and has the burned tea towels and table to prove it. Emma had always dreamed of pursuing her smithing career and finally with a little encouragement from her husband, E.S.CO began. Emma loves to find the most perfect and one-of-a-kind natural stones to be the focal point of her pieces. Each piece is designed to show off the beauty of every hand selected stone.
