The Agave tequilana, also known as Weber blue agave, tequila plant, or agave azul tequila, is a visually appealing plant with cultural significance in Mexico for over 200 years. Its large, succulent leaves contain a sweet juice that is an essential ingredient in the production of tequila, a distilled spirit made from the plant's sugars. This hardy blue agave features thick, fleshy leaves in a striking blue-gray color that form a rosette. It can reach heights of up to 8 feet and spread up to 10 feet wide. Be careful when handling this plant, as its leaves have sharp, spiky edges. During its blooming season in the summer, the Agave tequilana produces tall branching or unbranching inflorescences in yellow, pale green, or red. Its rapid growth makes it a popular choice for tequila production. Please Note: Plant will ship bare root with little to no dirt, and you will receive a plant similar to the one in the photo.
