Each piece is unique, and we select wood for the best color and grain figuring, and/or other interesting properties. We then use these pieces to make all of our bowls and vessels. WHAT TO EXPECT: All of our bowls and vessels are finished with an assortment of finishes (including polyurethane, tung oil, mineral spirits, and/or walnut oil) for a natural yet durable finish that is food safe, creating a functional statement piece that will withstand years of use! Please be aware that bowls used as food bowls may need to be recoated periodically; we’re happy to guide you on how to do that. OUR PROCESS: Due to the nature of wood, each piece is unique! You can rest assured that this functional woodwork is completely one-of-a-kind. Most slabs include splits caused by the drying process, inclusions, voids, and/or knot holes–and each one of these presents a wonderful design opportunity! Splits may be enhanced by installing “bowties” of the same or different species of wood, adding stability and a unique design. Voids, knots and inclusions may be inlaid with stone and/or colored epoxy to give the wood more character. We only use natural materials for our stone inlays, such as Turquoise, Chrysocolla, Lapis Lazuli, Abalone, Alacran, Sodalite, and river stones. I will send pictures of your project throughout the process to ensure everything meets your expectations. Once the project is complete and ready to ship, you will receive an invoice for the remaining cost.
