John's love for woodworking began in his high school shop class. In the years that followed he married and raised a family. He also joined the Air Force and served his country for 20 years, dreaming of his retirement and starting a wood-turning business. After his military service, John and his family chose to make Chattanooga, TN their home. Much love and care is given to each piece he produces. John uses traditional, staved and segmented techniques in his art. Some combining techniques. Many of his pieces have inlaid wood or natural stone. As for the shapes and styles he creates, John says the wood speaks to him while he is creating and tells him what shape it wants to be. A lot of time and care is given to the final finished product. Each piece is sanded and perfectly finished bringing out the natural colors of the wood, no stains or dyes are used. Stretching the limits of his imagination and creating pieces that are unique and unlike anything people have seen before is his goal.
