1910 Shepherd Socks-Ombre Dove Grey and Fairy Dust-Women’s Size 7-9

These Shepherd’s Socks are a rare piece of slow clothing, in that they are knitted on the farm where the wool is grown. They are made one at a time on an antique sock machine made about the time our old farm house was built, 1910. These machines produce socks with tiny even stitches that hold up very well. And the wool used is our Shetland hand dyed and natural colored wool we lovingly raise. All of our sheep have names and our Dove Grey sheep Blue Belle and Sawyer donated their fiber for your socks. 1 Pair Ombre Dove Grey and Fairy Dust women’s Size 7-9, 80% Shetland Wool, 10% Nylon, 10% Merino Wool and thin strand of Cobweb Lycra for stretchyness and added durability We believe is sustainable clothing so each pair comes with a little bobbin of extra yarn, should the need for darning arise. These socks are truly old school tradition in that the wool was minimally processed to preserve the softness, durability and comfort of the natural wool. (Unlike super wash, which is scoured in heavy chemicals to remove the outer scales of the wool.) After a few times wearing and hand washing, laying the socks to dry, you should be able to wash in the machine in cold water, delicate cycle-and put on a towel to dry.
