After a long career as a graphic designer and art/creative director with an MBA in marketing, I am now primarily focused on my first love, painting. From still life to landscapes to figures, I paint in a modern impressionist style utilizing both oils and acrylics. My simplified, yet realistic renderings emphasize the transformative effects of color, light and contrast in painting. From Martha’s Vineyard, I studied art in Lacoste, France and at the Art Institute of Chicago earning a BA in Studio Art with Honors at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Amy Philips' beautiful meditative paintings evoke nature in many guises, from closeups of inscrutable squash blossoms and grass stems to unpeopled forests, meadows, and lakes. I love what is there (fresh, bold color and composition) and what is not (distraction).

What a wonderful range of paintings from Amy Phillips. From the painterly expressive "Imaginary Trees" to the controled and detailed "Man on Nature", there much to feast your eyes on here. My favorite are: "Squash Blossoms Aligned", "Squash Blossoms Revealed" and "Field of Wildflowers-Landscape". Best of success to this prolific painter. Michael
