Ruth Lane is a self taught painter and recent finalist of the 2019 biennial SSNAP competition. Working full time from my studio in Elora, ON, I paint using a variety of mediums, including oils, emulsion paint, and tempura, where images that imagine a pared back and sustainable landscape are produced. In this body of work, I am exploring themes of loss and impermanence. Elements of colour, shape and space are used to construct landscapes containing an aspect of chance.
