Hays Pond Pottery started in 2016 and was founded by Stephen Johnson. Stephen teaches high school art in Crawford County, a county with deep roots in the Georgia pottery community. He often tells people he has the best job because he gets to play with clay all day and show other people how to do what he loves to do. Most of the pieces he makes are made from Lizella red clay. He makes a wide range of home decor items from bowls, vases, lamps, jugs, berry bowls, yarn bowls, to seasonal items such as pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, egg plates, bird feeders, and ornaments. Some of the more unique pieces are face jugs, flying pigs, and wavy bowls. His home and shop are in Mansfield, GA where he lives with his wife and 6 children. You can find Hays Pond Pottery at many Georgia arts and crafts festivals, such as Jugfest in Roberta, Forsyth's Forsythia Festival, and Barnesville's Buggy Days, but arrangements can be made for delivery or pickup through our Facebook page.
