We are a boutique bakery specializing in baked-to-order Eastern European pastries called Chimney Cakes that are a staple at outdoor markets throughout Europe. Chimney Cakes date back to Medieval times in Transylvania. They are the oldest pastry in Hungary, where they are traditionally referred to as kürtoskalács. Fresh homemade dough is wrapped around a wooden spit, covered in fine sugar, and placed over a fire - they're grilled, not fried! The heat of the fire caramelizes the sugar, creating a crunchy exterior shell while keeping the inside light and fluffy. Once cooked, the cakes are covered in cinnamon sugar or other toppings, and filled with delicious spreads. A chimney cake is more than dessert—it’s an experience.
