The Midland County Fair is held on the 4th weekend of August annually. The 2021 event was held August 26-29. The 2022 event is scheduled for August 25-28. Additionally, there are several pre-fair events that take place the weekend preceding the fair.
History and Description of the Fair
The fair was revived after several decades of dormancy. The event was established by a unique team of individuals serving as members of a conceptual design team with each member contributing to a collective mix of experience and skills in the realm of event planning, promotion and management. In only 12 short years, the fair has grown from only a few thousand people to record-breaking attendance of over 25,000 people.
Over the past twelve years the MCF is proud to have contributed financially, through scholarships and donations, to numerous charitable organizations including but not limited to Midland 4-H and FFA Programs, Permian Basin Restaurant Association, Odessa College Rodeo Program, Sul Ross Rodeo Program, Lamb & Goat Show, Tex-Mex Barrel Racing Association, Cowboy Mounted Shooters Association, Riding on Faith, Mighty Oaks Warrior Program, Mission Agape, Area Pet Adoption Organizations along with the Midland County Livestock Association. Additionally, many citizens compete in the creative arts program, such as area senior citizen organizations.
The general admission price remained at $5 except on Saturday night. At 5 PM on Saturday the price was raised to $10. This price increase was intended to encourage attendees to come at a different time and help control traffic issues. With coordination between Midland County Fair, Midland County’s Emergency Management and Midland High School Band Boosters traffic was not an issue on Saturday night. Since 2019 MCF has experienced record-breaking attendance on Saturday night.
The Fair Executive Board and Steering Committee’s desire is to maintain a low admission price. This is possible through the generous support the fair has received.
