Davis Street provides supportive services to low-income families and individuals living in Alameda County and the surrounding area. We touch the lives of thousands of people each year, helping them out of poverty and into productive lives.
Starting in the 1960s, San Leandro and the Eden area became the home of a sizable migrant population and growing number of two-parent, working poor households. Davis Street was founded as a family service center to meet their basic day-to-day needs. Many of our clients speak English as a second language. We serve them in their own language with a bilingual staff, in English, Spanish and Cantonese.
Some of our services include:
- A primary care clinic that provides medical, dental, pediatric, behavioral health and women’s health services
- No-cost, low-cost and full-cost child care
- Four licensed child development (child care) centers
- Free food, clothing, housing information and utility assistance
- Programs for individuals living with developmental disabilities
- Various free community programs and events throughout the year, including a health fair.
