I create my jewelry from Recycled 60 to 100 years Old ivory Piano Keys and various offcuts. This idea came about 50 years ago, while I was living in London. Then, I discovered this old Victorian warehouse full of old piano keys and their factory seconds, also parts left from making guitar bridges, bagpipes and violins, billiard balls, dress buttons, brushes and much more. All these were left from old British Empire collection of craftsman’s workshops. Later I was able to bring it to New Orleans, where I had my gallery on Royal street. After years of experimentation I developed a various techniques allowing old and flat piano keys to be twisted, curled and shaped in every way. I draw my designs from tribal, primitive and modern art with a sculptural feel. Today I also use antique piano keys salvaged from old pianos, giving them a new life. In our modern world we can do so much by Recycling Reusing and Re-purposing old valuable resources
