James Veenstra is a Michigan native who also lived long term out west (Wyoming) and has come to know and love the Gulf Coast and Florida through extensive travels and wintering in the area. These locations and environs have had a strong influence on his art. He has been a practicing artist since 1979. His glass is uniquely different and original, both in construction techniques and original design. He uses a combination of hand-worked copper, molten metal, sandblast etching, airbrush painting, and molten sheet art glass. Veenstra’s art glass can be hung in a window space, open areas, or on a wall. He also creates functional art for shower doors, windows, doors, cabinets, hutches, fireplace and stoves, as well as sandblast etching his designs onto polished granite such as tiles, swivel hot plates and coasters.
