Unique or limited edition pieces of wearable art. ***** I started making jewelry a few years ago to heal and ground myself after an aneurysm changed my life forever. My work is first and foremost an expression of my struggle to recover, my inner turmoil and of what it means to be human: to be unique, irrational, beautiful, flawed, ever changing, perfect in our many imperfections. Hand fabrication lets me embrace the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, that there is beauty in imperfection. To me, texture and uneven shapes are the best way to translate the human journey. I love playing with negative spaces and contrast with the addition of gold, pearls, gemstones and patinas. I think of my work as a respectful collaboration with my materials and the environment. I use ethically-mined or lab-created stones and I recycle as much metal as possible in my fused silver work. My creative process is a flow, intuitive, almost thoughtless. Each piece’s design evolves as it’s being made, ensuring it’s one of a kind. It’s then up to you, the wearer, to add on your own story and turn my creations into unique pieces of wearable art.
