I consider myself a realistic painter, but I also enjoy the spontaneity that the watercolor medium provides. My work showcases saturated colors all the while staying true to the translucent and transparent qualities of watercolors.
Watercolor painting has been a passion of mine from a very early age. As a ten year old I knew art would have a very important part in my life. Mixing business with pleasure, I infused that passion into my professional career as an elementary art educator for 35 years. Now in retirement, I am able fill more of my time painting. My ultimate goal for my paintings is that people enjoy and love the beauty that I attempt to capture.
The inspiration for my art comes from my love of the outdoors and the rural farm life where I grew up and where I continue to live. I capture the essence of this atmosphere by painting old barns, farmsteads, Victorian houses, and naturescapes. It is a joy to capture their character on paper. My daily life is a constant inspiration to my work. My home and extensive flower gardens are favorite subjects of mine and I enjoy that these works are able to bring the beauty of the outdoors in.
