A special group of pieces that brings childhood and mothering into the spotlight. Each piece brings back a sliver of memory. Swinging your child around in circles, watching as they spend hours spinning a hula hoop are all moments that are fleeting, yet present in our memory.
What triggers memory? A song, a phrase, a familiar face; these are the things that I use in order for the viewer to be part of the work. Working with layers of collage and paint, I obscure, highlight and bring forth a moment from the past. Each piece is a vision of present through the lens of the past.
I studied painting at Parsons School of Art and Design in New York City and received a BFA from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Currently I work from my studio in East Toronto and travels through the US exhibiting in top art fairs across the country. I have won several Awards and Grants from Ontario Arts Council and is represented by several galleries in Toronto and is in several corporate collections in North America.
